This inspirational
book shows lacemakers with a sound basic knowledge how to develop
their individual interpretations of designs and their awareness
of the many exciting possibilities of working a pattern.
New Patterns in Honiton Lace contains thirty
new designs that have been worked by experienced lacemakers. Each
pattern has been interpreted in an original style, and is illustrated
with a photograph of the finished work, a pricking and a diagram
of the working order.
Lacemakers are guided by detailed written
instructions, including working notes, a full description of the
working order and the fillings used. This invaluable book is rounded
off by several useful appendices, including a biography, addresses
of suppliers and sources of information.
Caroline and Barry Biggins are both qualified
art teachers. Caroline attended evening classes in Honiton lace
for fourteen years before taking up a teaching class herself in
1980. Barry began designing lace in 1985.
